How I started to Crochet

I love crochet.
I learned to crochet from my grandmother. She was very patient, very enthusiastic, and enjoyed crocheting together. It created a wonderful bond between my grandmother and me, and during this creative activity, it also nurtured my imagination and artistic side.

A few years ago, I started again when I was in Ibiza. After visiting the Hippie markets, my creative brain was reawakened.

There is a tiny yarn shop near my daughter’s place, and the owner is a very old, kind woman. Whenever we are there, I pick out and buy my yarn from her. Of course, I want to support the locals in Ibiza.

One thing led to another, and soon I was crocheting tops, bags, bikinis, and dog bandanas. At first, just for myself, but the reactions were so positive that now I crochet various products for my website. The fun part is that many of the items I crochet are unique. There’s only one of each.

A lot of ideas come to me when I start with a crochet hook in my hand.

On my website, you can now find:

  • Bags

  • Earrings

  • Chokers

  • Bag charms

  • Keychains

I really enjoy playing with yarn colors and the many possibilities it offers.

Last year (2024), I sold my crocheted items at the Sant Jordi Market in Ibiza. It was such a fun experience!

Did you know that crocheting also has many positive effects on health? It has numerous physical, mental, and social benefits.

If you enjoy crocheting, your brain releases dopamine, which is a substance that helps prevent memory loss. You work with both hands, and your brain has to work harder, making crocheting a workout for your brain. Crocheting increases self-confidence and can help improve your mood.

Since you need to focus on your crochet work, your thoughts don’t wander, which means you don’t have stress on your mind. Crocheting is associated with reduced anxiety and depression. You can crochet anywhere, and if you meet other crochet enthusiasts, it’s also a great way to socialize and connect with others.

Each item I crochet has its own story.
